Welcome to the website and related services operated by Trill Sound ("Trill Sound," "we," "us," or "our") at trillsound.com and any other website, application, or service where this Privacy Policy is posted (collectively, the "Services").

Trill Sound provides browser-based tools for reading, previewing, repairing, creating, and sharing music-production projects and audio.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and disclose that information, and the choices available to you regarding our data practices. Before using the Services or submitting any personal information to us, please review this Privacy Policy carefully. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Services.

1. PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

We collect information that alone or in combination with other information in our possession could be used to identify you ("Personal Information").

  • Account and profile information. We may collect email, account credentials, and profile info. When you choose to sign in, we store your email address, username, database-backed session, and account timestamps. We use passwordless, one-time email links and do not collect an account password. We collect this information directly from you. We may use this information to provide and operate the Services, create, maintain, and administer accounts, and maintain security and integrity.
  • Waitlist information. We may collect email. When public signups are unavailable and you join the waitlist, we store the email address you submit so we can notify you when Trill Sound access is available. Joining the waitlist does not create an account. We collect this information directly from you. We may use this information to communicate with users about the Services and create, maintain, and administer accounts. In some cases, providing this information is optional.
  • Local Logic project access. We may collect user content and audio. When you connect a folder, supported browsers may retain a File System Access handle in browser storage so you can reopen it later. Logic projects are read and parsed on your device. Connecting or previewing a local project does not upload the project bundle or its audio to Trill Sound. We collect this information directly from you. We may use this information to provide and operate the Services and personalize the user experience. In some cases, providing this information is optional.
  • Shared Logic projects and audio. We may collect user content, audio, and photos. When you explicitly share a Logic project, we store a compressed, sanitized preview in private object storage containing selected project metadata such as project and track names, arrangement regions, tempo, meter, colors, MIDI notes, and compact waveform summaries. If you choose to share audio, we also store the generated preview mix or stems and project artwork as separate objects. We do not upload the original Logic project bundle or unrelated project media. We collect this information directly from you. We may use this information to provide and operate the Services and create, maintain, and administer accounts. We may disclose this information to other users or the public where you choose to make content public and service providers and vendors who perform services on our behalf. In some cases, providing this information is optional.
  • Shared-project views and plays. We may collect usage data. For shared projects, we record whether a project was viewed or its shared audio was played, together with the event time and shared-project identifier. Project owners can see aggregated view and play counts in Insights. We collect this information automatically from your device or browser. We may use this information to provide and operate the Services, analyze usage and performance, and maintain security and integrity.
  • Anonymous site preferences and activity. We may collect usage data and cookies. We use a random anonymous cookie for features that do not require an account, including outbound news-link history and temporary tool jobs. We do not fingerprint your browser or device. We collect this information automatically from your device or browser. We may use this information to provide and operate the Services, personalize the user experience, and maintain security and integrity.
  • Product analytics and performance information. We may collect usage data, cookies, device info, browser info, referrer, ip address, and approximate location. In production, Google Analytics 4 receives privacy-limited page groups, product interaction events, News feed and story interaction categories, conversion outcomes, aggregate counts, and web performance measurements. Public-profile and shared-project events include the public profile username and, where applicable, the public shared-project identifier so we can understand activity for specific public content. Google may process technical request information such as IP address to provide approximate geography, along with browser, device, and referring-page information. Before analytics events leave the browser, Trill replaces local-project, shared-project, Lab-project, and public-profile URLs with grouped paths. We do not send Google Analytics local project IDs or names, project or profile display names, file paths, email addresses, diagnostic text, raw errors, story titles, search terms, artist or location names, post IDs, or external URLs. We collect this information automatically from your device or browser. We may use this information to analyze usage and performance, perform research and internal analysis, improve and develop the Services, and maintain security and integrity. We may disclose this information to analytics and measurement providers.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate and administer the Services, understand usage, and improve the user experience. We also use analytics tools to understand how users interact with the Services. We do not use session replay tools. Our Services do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.

Analytics providers may include Google Analytics 4.

The tracking technologies we use may include:

  • Trill session and anonymous preference cookies (Trill Sound): Maintain signed-in sessions and remember a random anonymous identifier for public preferences and temporary jobs. It may collect session token and random pseudonymous identifier. Retention: Session duration or up to one year, depending on the cookie. This technology is considered essential for operation of the Services.
  • Local Studio preferences and File System Access handles (Trill Sound): Remember connected folders, recently opened projects, and local interface preferences in this browser. It may collect file system access handles, recent project references, and interface preferences. Retention: Until you disconnect, clear site data, or revoke access. This technology is considered essential for operation of the Services.
  • Google Analytics 4 (Google): Measure aggregate audience activity, product adoption, News engagement, conversion outcomes, and web performance on the production service. Google Signals and advertising-personalization signals are disabled by Trill Sound. It may collect sanitized page groups, public profile usernames and public shared-project identifiers, categorical product events and aggregate counts, browser and device information, referring-page information, approximate geography derived from network information, and core web vitals. Retention: According to the configured Google Analytics property settings; event-level data may be retained for up to 14 months. This technology is not strictly necessary for operation of the Services.

2. HOW WE USE PERSONAL INFORMATION

We may use Personal Information for the following purposes:

  • provide and operate the Services;
  • create, maintain, and administer accounts;
  • maintain security and integrity;
  • communicate with users about the Services;
  • personalize the user experience;
  • analyze usage and performance;
  • perform research and internal analysis;
  • improve and develop the Services;

3. SHARING AND DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

In certain circumstances, we may disclose Personal Information to third parties as described below:

  • Vendors. We may disclose information to service providers and vendors who perform services on our behalf.
  • Public Content. We may disclose information to other users or the public where you choose to make content public.
  • Legal. We may disclose information to government authorities, regulators, courts, or other parties where required by law or necessary to protect rights and safety.
  • Consent. We may disclose information to third parties at your direction or with your consent.
  • Analytics Providers. We may disclose information to analytics and measurement providers.

Examples of vendors and service providers may include:

  • Amazon Web Services (Hosting): Host the application and store explicitly shared project previews, artwork, and optional audio..
  • Amazon Simple Email Service (Email): Deliver passwordless sign-in emails and service messages..
  • Google Analytics 4 (Analytics): Measure privacy-limited production usage, conversions, News engagement, and web performance using sanitized routes and categorical events..

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. DATA RETENTION AND SECURITY

We retain account information while your account remains open. Local folder handles remain only in your browser until you disconnect them or clear site data. Shared previews and optional shared audio remain until you remove the share or delete your account, subject to limited backup, security, and legal retention. Temporary generation results may expire sooner as described in the applicable tool.

We use access controls, encrypted transport, private object storage, expiring signed media links, and passwordless authentication. No online service can guarantee absolute security, and anyone who receives a public share link may be able to copy the content made available through that link.

5. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES

Depending on your location and subject to applicable law, you may have the right to:

  • request access to personal information we hold about you;
  • request deletion of your personal information;
  • request correction of inaccurate personal information;
  • request a portable copy of applicable personal information;
  • adjust cookie settings where available;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • exercise privacy rights without unlawful discrimination;

6. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us at privacy@trillsound.com.

7. THIRD-PARTY SITES AND SERVICES

Trill News, public profiles, and shared projects may link to publishers, listening services, media embeds, and other third-party websites. Those services operate under their own terms and privacy policies and may collect information when you open or interact with them.

8. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

Your Personal Information may be processed in countries other than the country in which you reside. Where required by law, we take steps designed to provide appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

9. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version here and update the "Last Updated" date above. Your continued use of the Services after any update becomes effective means you acknowledge the updated Privacy Policy, to the extent permitted by law.

13. ADDITIONAL DISCLOSURES

  • A project set to Anyone with the link can be viewed by anyone who obtains its share URL. A project password restricts access through Trill Sound but does not prevent an authorized recipient from recording or redistributing content they can access.
  • Disconnecting a local folder removes Trill Sound's saved handle to that folder in the current browser. You can also revoke access through your browser or operating-system settings.
  • Google Analytics is disabled in local development. On the production service, you can limit analytics cookies and requests through browser privacy controls, content blockers, or Google-provided opt-out tools. Blocking analytics does not prevent core Trill Sound functionality from operating.
  • Trill Sound does not use Google Analytics for cross-context behavioral advertising, does not enable Google Signals or advertising-personalization signals, and does not intentionally send Google information that directly identifies you.
